You know how important it is look after yourself first, to create time for rest and relaxation, yet somehow this slips out of the window and you end up, once again missing out on “Me-Time” as you focus on doing things for others.
It has taken me a while to learn to love myself and put my needs for self care firmly on the agenda. I still have a way to go, and have days when I “don’t have time” to exercise, go to bed early or eat well”. However, I’m learning to stop beating myself up and to be more gentle and loving with myself.
If you would like to have more energy to take control of your health and happiness, here are 7 wellbeing tips you can follow which are offered to encourage you to take care of yourself first so you’ll have more energy to fit in all the other things you do!
Wellbeing Tip#1: Exercise
A strong body and a healthy mind are vital to ensure you function at your best.
There are numerous benefits gained from regular exercise. Find a physical activity you enjoy doing and make it part of your daily routine. The more you exercise, the more oxygen is pumped around your body. This helps to energise and strengthen your body. The fitter and stronger you are, the more energy you have to do the things you enjoy.
Wellbeing Tip #2: Care And Nurture Yourself
Take regular informal “Soul-Revival Breaks”. For example, light a candle in the morning when you wake up and say a few affirmations to start your day in a positive way. Here’s a list of 70 Affirmations I use as part of my daily practice . Turn of your phone and un-plug and chill-out from the noise of Facebook and email for half a day or go for a lunch-time walk in your local park.
Breathe deeply as you walk. The colours of nature and the fresher air will add a natural bounce to your step. You will feel lighter and happier for taking this time-out.
Wellbeing Tip #3: Smile And Laugh Often.
Share happy thoughts and jokes with others. Laughter instantly elevates your mood and makes your eyes sparkle. You will feel more at ease in yourself and everyone is attracted to a happy smile and friendly face.
Wellbeing Tip #4 Learn To Trust Your Instincts
You have heard about the quote “Never underestimate the power of a woman’s intuition”. Learn to trust your intuition, because at the end of the day, your gut feeling is always right. And when you act in accordance with your intuition, you tune into that part of yourself which elevates your spirit and keeps you balanced and aligned.
Wellbeing Tip #5: Enjoy Your Own Company
Sometimes, in an effort to be nice to others or feel accepted by them, you lose you own identity and engage in activities or conversations which don’t feel right for you. This type of activity drains and lowers your energy. When this happens, aim to distance yourself from these “energy zappers” and take pleasure in your own company. In the long run this boosts your vitality and sense of wholeness and wellbeing.
Wellbeing Tip #6: Have A Vision Of How You Want Your Life To Be
Maybe your present life or relationships isn’t what you seek. Don’t worry. The more you know yourself, the easier it becomes for you to feel more confident to do what feels right for you, to learn to say no to all the demands on your time and put your needs for peace and quiet on the agenda. Your sense of self-love and gratitude for your life will flow through you and bless all you do.
